WALK WITH ME

LOCATION-BASED WALKING PROJECTS

The location project series began when I realised how much of my walks are spent stopping to take in the view and snapping a quick shot “for the ‘gram” on my phone.

After making a complete final piece in 24hours from one photo for my interconnected project, I decided to start making more quick turn-around (in theory!) projects based on individual walks. Not only was it a fantastic excuse to get out and see ‘new’ areas of Devon, but it allowed me a more flexible creative freedom to design and make artworks of any kind.

My intention was for this project to be purely about nice walks and producing cyanotypes. However, the way I make cyanotypes lately is by creating a digitally crafted negative to be exposed under the UV light/sun… and the digital collages I made in the cosy afternoons following my first walk just completely won me over, so I decided they deserved to be seen in their own right!

The pieces produced combine natural woodland and coastal scenes and with playful hand drawn illustrations.
